Looking incredulously sultry within this Vogue Portugal September 2010 spread, model Ashley Smith is captured looking innocent (yet naughty as well).
Contrasting her bright, blonde hair against the featured black bunny outfit creates an interestingly composed shot which accentuates Smith’s features. Her innocent expressions don’t fool anyone as the editorial gets progressively hotter as the series goes on. Check out the featured gallery and see this Vogue Portugal September 2010 editorial for yourselves.

I love the colors, the motion, and the title of this photo (Hanoi Breakfast) by andreakw. Is it the social whir behind the woman in the foreground? Is it her intensity? Is it simply dinnertime in my time zone?
This image is an easy reminder that breakfast is a culturally bound concept. That the pho' in question also looks terribly delicious, spicy and dense with noodles, is also very appealing.
Got a great image of a beautiful meal in an exciting location? Add it to Gadling's Flickr photo pool and we might just pluck it out of obscurity to be featured as our Photo of the Day.

Grand Rapids, Michigan has the most LEED-certified buildings per capita in the entire country. In 2007, the city reached its goal of getting 20% of its power from renewable resources, with a pledge from the mayor for 100% by 2020. Let’s see. On the one hand, the scanners are a useful tool in detecting the sort of explosives smuggled onto Flight 253 by Abdulmutallab, and therefore a valuable weapon in the war on terror. Which of course is why Napolitano is expanding their use. On the other hand, airline passengers are understandably self-conscious about dangling their goods in front of the local TSA screener but perhaps willing to do so in the interest of not being blown up in mid-air. Our dilemma: What can we do to freak out the public to the point where they’ll demand that the scanners no longer be used, thereby imperiling everyone?
Good ol’ DHS. Always quick with a solution.
The U.S. Marshals Service admitted this week that it had surreptitiously saved tens of thousands of images recorded with a millimeter wave system at the security checkpoint of a single Florida courthouse.
This follows an earlier disclosure (PDF) by the TSA that it requires all airport body scanners it purchases to be able to store and transmit images for “testing, training, and evaluation purposes.” The agency says, however, that those capabilities are not normally activated when the devices are installed at airports…
William Bordley, an associate general counsel with the Marshals Service, acknowledged in the letter that “approximately 35,314 images…have been stored on the Brijot Gen2 machine” used in the Orlando, Fla. federal courthouse. In addition, Bordley wrote, a Millivision machine was tested in the Washington, D.C. federal courthouse but it was sent back to the manufacturer, which now apparently possesses the image database…
A 70-page document (PDF) showing the TSA’s procurement specifications, classified as “sensitive security information,” says that in some modes the scanner must “allow exporting of image data in real time” and provide a mechanism for “high-speed transfer of image data” over the network. (It also says that image filters will “protect the identity, modesty, and privacy of the passenger.”)
The only reason I can think of to save the images is to preserve evidence in case the TSA screener on duty … utterly fails to detect the hidden explosives in the image and the suspect somehow makes it onto the plane. Is that what this is about — making sure prosecutors have something to show the jury in case some jihadi actually makes it past the checkpoint and is subdued during the flight? Obviously you don’t need the image if you nab the guy during the pre-flight screening since you’ll recover the actual explosives themselves. What the sam hill is going on here?
Update: Speak of the devil…
Update: To clarify, obviously you don’t need the images if the guy’s subdued during the flight either. But having them would prove whether he brought the explosives onboard himself versus whether they were planted there by some other party. Is that what this is about? It can’t be.
Un-freakin-real. The power of social networking is becoming more evident as the days pass. Cerebrally challenged criminals literally hand evidence to police via Facebook and Myspace, creepy child predators are nabbed regularly on Craigslist, and now this; a woman uncovers her husband’s secret life with a simple search—brilliant!
It all started when Lynn France grew a tad suspicious of her husband’s supposed overseas trips. She first discovered that he left his passport at home after telling her he was bound for China. Then, prior to another trip, she found that he had been surfing hotel websites. Something just didn’t add up.
Lynn drove to the hotel, where she found her dear old hubby with another woman. But it wasn’t until searching Facebook that she realized just how far his ‘affair’ had gone.
A quick search brought up pictures of John France and his OTHER alleged wife Amanda in a literal fairy tale wedding. Taken at Disney, the photos showed the bride dressed as Sleeping Beauty, while John played Prince Charming.
Feeling nauseous yet? Well there is a major twist. You see, after Lynn filed for divorce, John’s attorneys began to allege that their overseas marriage wasn’t valid in the first place. There were even affidavits to support the claim. The complicated case is still meandering its way through the courts, but for now it looks like John may escape being labeled a bigamist thanks to a technicality.
What’s worse, Lynn is now without her children thanks to another smooth move by John. Now she is left searching the same Facebook page from before, only this time it’s for recent pictures of the kids.
So sad. Check out some photos and video related to Lynn France, John France’s wife below. What are your thoughts?

The new Apple Store in Covent Garden is the “best ever” according to Apple's senior VP of retail ops, Ron Johnson, who was on hand to give Pocket-lint a sneak peak of the shop ahead of its grand opening at 10am on 7 August.
As well as being the “best” Apple Store, it also has the honour of being Apple's 300th retail centre. Coincidence? We don't think those chaps from Cupertino do coincidences.
So, what makes the Covent Garden store the best?
Well, apart from being huge – three floors with a huge courtyard area – Johnson was keen to point out that much of the building is still made up of the original 1876 brickwork, which had to be carefully restored. A process Johnson described as “expensive” but the Apple boss was keen to stress that the cost was worth it. “We spent the right amount of money, put it that way”, he said.
As well as the “original fabric” Johnson was also keen to boast of the English oak used in the tables and parts of the floor, and was also awfully proud that it was the first Apple Store in the world to offer two glass staircases.
Talking of world firsts, the store also boasts Apple's newest addition to its retail operations – the Start Up room, where the Apple bods will help people set up their purchases before they even leave the shop.
There is also a new community room, and a business briefing centre where schools and, er, businesses can go and get hands on with the Apple gadgets.
As you'd expect there are also the usual Apple Store offerings such as Genius Bars, personal training rooms, kid's tables and there is also the largest selection of third party software and accessories to be found anywhere in the world.
300 employees have been summoned to work at the new store and they will all be able to take payments for items from anywhere on the premises using their iPod touches and the new Easy Pay Touch system. Paper receipts are long dead, you'll receive your purchase details via email before you even leave the shop.
So, what do we think? Worth all the fuss?
Definitely. There was talk as to whether the shop would be London's flagship store ahead of the Regent Street one – the world's most successful Apple Store.
But we don't think the London flagship was even a consideration for Apple. It's clear that Apple Store at 1 Piazza, Covent Garden, is the world's flagship Apple Store.
The store opens on Saturday 7 August at 10.30am – be one of the first 4000 inside and nab yourself a free t-shirt. And don't worry about stock levels – Johnson said there are more iPhone 4s and iPads at the new store than anywhere else in the world.

Tawain's computer maker Acer has released its new line of 'Liquid' smartphones at a most opportune time. With the Snapdragon HTC HD2 coming out later this year and the Sony XPERIA X10 hitting the markets first quarter of the next year, the new Acer Liquid A1 comes out pretty much bagging a couple of firsts. It's the world's first Snapdragon Android smartphone and the world's first Android smartphone in the wide 'VGA screen resolution.
Android fans may be a bit disappointed that Acer has underclocked the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon from 1GHz to 768 MHz. That's like getting a Ferrari to run only at 80 mph max. But it doesn't look like this has compromised any of the remarkable features of the Liquid handset. It still packs a winning combination of innovative cutting-edge features and stylish 21st century ergonomics.
Another disappointment comes from Acer's use of the older Android 1.6 when the latest and more powerful Android 2.0 is already out months before its release. But we can surmise that any shift could have delayed the Liquid's launch date. We only hope that Acer provides an upgrade option to prospective users of the Liquid smartphone.
Value for the Money
The handset has been available for pre-order on the Clove site in the UK. It was initially promoted at a very affordable price of '380 ($570) before taxes and subsidies. But it can now be had for slightly lower at the ?330 ($540) price point. This is a landmark price for an upscale Android phone. Firstly it's a quad band GSM and tri-band 3G with HSUPA/HSDPA for high speed internet surfing. Whereas pother smartphones can only allow data synching between your handset and your laptop or desktop PC, the Liquid can also synchronized over WiFi 802.11 b/g apart from its hotspot surfing support.
Multimedia functionality gets upscale treatment starting with its expansive 3.5' TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen in Wide-VGA resolution. Movie watching on the road rarely gets this satisfying. Then there's a 5 megapixel camera with software-assisted accelerated autofocus, VGA video recording and geo-tagging from its built-in GPS receiver. You also get A2DP support for wireless stereo Bluetooth earphones in addition to a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired headphones.
Your media content benefits from its 256MB ROM and a 512MB RAM with microSD support for up to 32 GB. Its slim 1350 mAh lithium-ion battery delivers 5 hours of talk time and 400 hours of standby time on a single charge ' a bit on the short side. It looks like Acer engineers may have underclocked the Snapdragon to be able to get the most of its slim underpowered battery which is the bane of most slim handsets.
Software wise, the Acer Liquid A1 has a full complement of phone apps that allow seamless integration with online social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Picasa and Flickr. You can now have updates and sync of your phonebook and calendar event with these social media and make use of Picasa and YouTube as a remote back-up site for all your media-rich files. It has what Acer uniquely calls Spinlets, or apps that allow free audio and video streaming on your handsets that you can share with friends and colleague over the web and email.
For its price tag, it looks like Acer has hit on a winner with it Liquid smartphone. We hope to see this widely available from network carriers soon.

Two months after announcing its development, Sony has launched the NEX-VG10E – an E-mount camcorder that becomes the worlds' first consumer-grade HD camcorder with interchangeable lenses. Although appearing under Sony's Handycam brand, rather than Alpha, it retains a lot in common with the Alpha NEX series. It features the same 14.6MP Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor but is capable of recording 1080i video at a higher, 24mbps, bitrate. The NEX-VG10E also features an electronic viewfinder and 'Quad Capsule Spatial Array Stereo Microphone' that uses four microphone elements to provide better channel separation and cancel unwanted noise. In every other respect it is essentially a NEX 5, featuring the same user interface (though with more external controls) and both SD and MemoryStick storage. It will sold as kit with image-stabilised E18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens and will be available a suggested retail price of €2000 / $2000.
Although the VG-10 can shoot still images with the same level of control as the NEX-3 and 5, it cannot record RAW images.

Handycam® NEX-VG10E capturescinematic Full HD movie and stereo sound with great depth
Building on 25 years of continuous Handycam® innovation, Sony introduces the NEX-VG10E – the world’s first consumer HD camcorder with interchangeable lenses. It’s also the first Handycam® featuring an extra-large Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor that allows the creation of exquisitely cinematic background defocus effects.
Targeting video enthusiasts and photographers, the NEX-VG10E opens up unprecedented artistic possibilities not achievable with conventional consumer video cameras.
Compatible with a choice of high quality E-mount lenses, it’s the first consumer camcorder that offers the same breadth of creative expression enjoyed by DSLR photographers. Alongside the three currently available E-mount lenses, users of the NEX-VG10E can experience a wide variety of A-mount DSLR optics by using the optional LA-EA1 mount adaptor. Picking from a choice of award-winning Sony G lenses, fixed-focal length Carl Zeiss portrait lenses and other models from macro to super-telephoto, videographers will have unprecedented freedom to explore an exciting world in movie creation.
At the heart of the NEX-VG10E is a 14.2 effective megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor that’s teamed with Sony’s powerful BIONZTM processor to capture very high resolution video and still images. Approximately 19.5 times bigger than the standard sensor found in other consumer camcorders, the APS-C sized imager also enables an extremely shallow depth of field. This allows videographers to achieve ‘cinematic’ results with beautiful background defocus (bokeh). In addition, the ability to capture DSLR-quality still images gives videographers extra shooting flexibility on assignment with less to carry.
Full HD 1920×1080 video images are captured in AVCHDTM format at up to the maximum 24 Mbps bit rate for superlative detail and clarity. Unlike many digital still cameras including DSLR that support HD video, there’s virtually no restriction on continuous shooting time. Just slip in your choice of either Memory Stick PRO DuoTM or SD media cards and capture Full HD video and JPEG still images for easy transfer into your existing PC storage and editing environment.
The NEX-VG10E comes supplied as standard with an image-stabilised E18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens that offers a powerful 11x optical zoom range. Because of its optimized design for video shooting, this high-quality E-mount lens offers smooth, ultra low noise autofocus and iris control. In-built Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation assures clearer video images when you’re shooting handheld. At wide angle settings, Active Mode enhances anti-shake performance even further, steadying jittery images even while walking. The lens also features a circular aperture for the creation of beautiful bokeh effects whether you’re shooting video or stills.
Reflecting the demands of serious videographers, sound quality matches the phenomenal imaging performance of the NEX-VG10E. The Quad Capsule Spatial Array Stereo Microphone uses advanced processing algorithms to combine signals from four separate omnidirectional microphone capsules. The result is exceptionally clear stereo audio with a highly directional response: this allows videographers to capture more sound from the subject they’re shooting, and less of distracting sounds around them. There’s also a jack for adding an optional external stereo mic, plus a headphone jack for audio monitoring.
With a photo-realistic 921k dot resolution, the 7.5cm/3 inch-type Xtra Fine LCD features TruBlackTM technology for an exceptionally detailed, high contrast view of images and menu settings. The LCD is supplemented by a high-resolution (1152k dot) electronic viewfinder that assists easy framing and monitoring. The viewfinder helps operator capture clear images in bright daylight and its angle can be easily adjusted for comfortable operation.
Despite its groundbreaking creative possibilities, the NEX-VG10E is compact, beautifully balanced and easy to handle, even for novice videographers. An intuitive jog dial and hotkeys make it easy to navigate camera menus and adjust shooting parameters. Videographers can also enjoy precise manual control over Iris, Shutter Speed, Gain and White Balance for professional results.
A range of official accessories includes the ECM-CG50 Shotgun Microphone that attaches to the camcorder’s accessory shoe. There’s also a choice of rechargeable battery options, including the NP-FV100 that provides power for up to 330 minutes continuous HD shooting. A dedicated soft carrying case LCS-VCD is also available as an option.
Offered to customers as a free download, Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 video editing software includes everything you need to produce spectacular HD movies. Powerful tools for video compositing, colour correction and sound mixing make it easy to achieve cinema-quality results in your own home studio. You can also upload movies to web, burn them to Blu-ray Disc™ or author DVDs with custom menus and graphics.
The Handycam® NEX-VG10E interchangeable lenses Full HD camcorder is available in Europe from mid October 2010.
Sony has announced a new interchangeable lens HD camcorder that is based around a DSLR style camera. It is called the Sony NEX-VG10 and is capable of capturing video in HD.
The camera can capture at HD 1920 x 1080 in the AVCHD format. Video is captured at 60i (60 interlaced frames per second). Manual controls are found on the camera which include control for the shutter, iris, white balance and gain. Still images can also be captured manually if required.
The camera uses the same CMOS sensor and E-Mount lenses that the NEX-5 and NEX-3 digital SLR cameras use. When the NEX-VG10 ships late 2010 it will come with an 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 zoom lens.
When capturing stills the camera captures with a 14 megapixel sensor and can capture in a burst mode at 7 frames per second if needed.
After using the NEX-VG10 for a few minutes during a recent demo, it became clear that Sony didn't just slap an interchangeable lens mount onto a camcorder; the scene modes and controls for both video and stills make the NEX-VG10 a refined and versatile double-duty weapon. Weighing in at almost 3 lbs., it's not the lightest camcorder on the block, but holding it via its top-mounted handle rather than its side-mounted hand strap lessened its heft quite a bit.
The Sony NEX-VG10 will be made available in September and will cost $2000 when launched.

You are bidding on one Acer Aspire 1410 Netbook PC with 11.6″ monitor, internal battery and battery charger. Most of the specs are shown in the auction photos however please note there are some descrepencies between the factory label (please see photo and internal specs taken directly from the computer (please see photo 9 and 10). This is normal from our experience with Laptops having mostly to do with useable and non useable memory that is our understanding. This is a pre-owned Notebook in good condition with the following notations. There is one scratch on the top that runs approximately 6″ from the 12 to the 2 o’clock position, and another scratch around half the size on the left side of the top with some much smaller, lighter scratches also scattered around the top. The widescreen monitor looks clean with no obvious scratches visible to us, with just a few light blemishes on the frame surrounding the monitor mainly at the bottom. The only other flaw that we find is the Windows label on the bottom of the computer has begun to curl a bit on the left corner. According to the other label this unit was manufactured in September 2009 so it is a relative baby at less than a year old. The keys on the keyboard appear to be jumbo sized compared to most of the netbooks that we see but we are not sure what the standard size is. Also included is one Replacement AC Adapter which we did test by charging up the battery to a full charge. It did take around 2 hours to charge the battery from about 5% to fully charged which seemed to take slightly longer than we usually notice on these netbooks. Everything else seems to be functioning fine and this would be a nice clean portable system for any student or anyone else looking for a nice clean portable computer. We have provided the best good faith description possible but can not describe every inch. Please do not write and call us mean names if you find some hairline blemish or flaw that we did not mention. We are sure anyone could find some other small scuff or scratch if they inspect closely enough.
